Since July 20, seven parishes have joined the ranks of parishes across the Archdiocese that have surpassed their 2009 Catholic Appeal goal, bringing the total number to 58.

Boston – Our Lady of Victories, Fr. Gerry Demers

Charlestown – St. Francis de Sales, Fr. Dan Mahoney

Cambridge – St. Peter, Fr. Lenny O’Malley

Millis – St. Thomas the Apostle, Fr. Henry Chambers

Newton – Mary Immaculate of Lourdes, Fr. Charles Higgins

Randolph – St. Mary, Fr. Ron Coyne

Wellesley – St. Paul, Fr. Rich Fitzgerald

Fr. Dan Mahoney, pastor at St. Francis de Sales in Charlestown, took a few minutes to speak with The Catholic Foundation about his parish’s success in this year’s Appeal.

“It’s been a challenging year,” admitted Fr. Mahoney, “But the key is to continue reminding parishioners every week of the importance of the Appeal and the work that it funds.”

Fr. Mahoney also added that he has sent a personal letter of thanks, as in years past, to each of the 96 families from St. Francis who have contributed to the Appeal thus far. “I like to make sure that people know how much I appreciate their support. Plus, it goes a long way in cultivating good will for the future.”

Many thanks to Fr. Mahoney and all of the above pastors and parish staff members who have committed their time and energy to a successful campaign effort.
