Dear Father/Monsignor:

I would like to briefly update you on the work of the Improved Financial Relationship Committee (IFRC), and invite you to attend an upcoming information meeting.

You will recall from our last letter (11/25/08) that the IFRC has been authorized by Cardinal Sean to recommend a new and better model of financial relationship between the Archdiocese’s Parishes and Central Ministries. Over the past two months, and with the benefit of input from many pastors across the Archdiocese and from officials from dioceses across the country, our work and analysis of this has advanced to the point where we are now prepared to share our current thinking and personally consult with you and other priests in a face-to-face setting.

Accordingly, we have now scheduled 7 meetings to review the progress of the IFRC and present our preliminary recommendations. These meetings will take place in each region, with an additional 2 meetings to be held at the Pastoral Center in Braintree. You are invited to attend any of these meetings – whichever is most convenient.

The purpose of these meetings is to share our current thinking and to listen to you. Please fax/mail the RSVP form so that we can ensure we have enough seats and copies of discussion materials.

Please note that this upcoming round of consultation is intended to be with priests only; there will be additional consultation with a broader stakeholder group (including Parish staff, Finance Council reps, etc) at a later point in the development of a new model. We have attached some additional background Q&A that you may find helpful to scan before the meeting.

Thank you for your continued support of this important initiative. I am looking forward to seeing you. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact any member of the IFRC, Scot Landry or me.

Yours in Christ,

Steve Barrett
